Your information, handled plainly.
What we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
Who this covers
This policy explains how The Electrical Academy ("TEA", "we", "us") handles personal information collected through this website, elacd.ca. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We only collect what you type into a form on this site. Specifically:
- Free handbook form — your name, email address, and where you are in your trade journey.
- Founding waitlist / application form — your first and last name, email address, phone number, city, experience level, and what you want out of the program.
- Employer partner form — your company name, contact name, email address, phone number, location, hiring needs, and any notes you add.
We do not run advertising trackers or analytics pixels on this site, and we do not set our own cookies. Like any website, our host records standard server logs, and the fonts and code libraries this site loads are served by Google Fonts and unpkg, which receive your IP address as part of delivering those files.
Why we collect it
- To send you the handbook or material you asked for.
- To contact you about the program, your application, or your seat.
- To connect employer partners with students, where that is the purpose of the form you submitted.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Who processes it
This site is hosted on Netlify, and form submissions are captured and stored by Netlify Forms on our behalf. We use standard business email to reply to you. These providers process your information only to deliver those services to us, and their servers may be located outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed in another country and subject to that country's laws.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and waitlist information for as long as it takes to answer you and to run the founding intake, and student records for as long as you are enrolled plus the period we are required to keep business records. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to being contacted — at any time, at no cost. Email hello@elacd.ca and we will action it. Every marketing email we send also contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect support for a program you have already purchased.
Children
This site and program are intended for people old enough to work in the electrical trade. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we will remove it.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Access to submissions is limited to the people who need it to run the program. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep payment card numbers on this site — payments, when you make one, are handled by a payment processor.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we use your information will be communicated to you directly where we have your email address.
Contact
Questions or requests about privacy: email hello@elacd.ca, or use our contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
